Conference and Events Porter

International Students House (ISH) is a unique centre in London’s West End, providing social, welfare and accommodation facilities for British and overseas students. Its aims are to promote social and cultural awareness and to facilitate the interaction of students with a view to enhancing international friendship.

The Conference Department lets conference rooms for both internal and external use for meetings/exams/parties/live gigs/club nights etc, including the provision of audio visual equipment and catering facilities as requested.

There are 3 Bars at ISH, with late licensing for events until 01.00 hrs on Thursday and 03.00 hrs on Fridays and Saturdays.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparation of equipment and furniture in rooms for conferences and events as per function sheets and company standards.
• Turnaround of rooms following conference and events in preparation of future bookings
• To help ensure the safe and successful running of events
• Maintenance fault reporting
• Operating of audio visual equipment when required
• Formation of client Welcome Packs when required
• Liaising with housekeeping to ensure rooms are clean and presentable.

HOURS OF WORK
The work will be mainly in the evenings from 16.00 onwards, with some daytime work available at weekends.

SALARY & BENEFITS

• The hourly rate of pay offered is £7.70, rising to £10.55 after successful completion of probation.
• Holiday pay is accumulated at .93p per hour and £1.27 after passing probation.
• A £2.75 meal allowance per day is given for use in the ISH Catering facilities for those working longer than 4 hours.
